Pilots have a lot of sayings, but this is one of my favorites:
“The three most useless things to a pilot are the altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel left at the airport.”
Almost every pilot phrase has a story behind it, something someone learned the hard way. Over time they’ve become little reminders we repeat constantly.
This one sticks because it applies to more than flying. The runway behind you can’t help you. The fuel you didn’t bring isn’t going to show up. And that altitude you’ve already passed? It’s gone.
So what are you worrying about that’s already behind you?
And what should you be focused on instead ... right here, right now, where it actually matters?
